A Little Wallpaper Nostalgia

I’ve become something of a wallpaper enthusiast. It’s found its way into nearly every room in our home, which makes me smile because, as a teenager, I couldn’t wait to see the wallpaper disappear from the walls of my childhood home. Funny how things come full circle.

Today, I find myself drawn to the very things I once considered old-fashioned. Pattern, color, cozy rooms, and that familiar feeling of stepping into a space that seems to have a story or two to tell.

The wallpaper in our keeping room is called ‘Jaipur’ by Peter Fasano. I’ve always been partial to red in a dining space, especially when it’s accompanied by books, art, plenty of candles, and a fireplace. Throw in a few dogs, flowers from the garden, and the afternoon light, and I’m quite content to stay awhile.

William Morris once advised us to think first of our walls, for they help make a house a home. I suspect he and I would have had a lively conversation about wallpaper!

Scroll along for a few glimpses of our keeping room through the seasons. The wallpaper stays the same, but everything around it changes. And that’s part of the fun. Keep scrolling to the end for a glimpse of my 1970s childhood bedroom. Proof that my relationship with wallpaper has come a long way!

Are you a wallpaper enthusiast, or does the thought of it send you reaching for a paintbrush?

With thanks to Lisa for suggesting it!
