The Gift of Age

I feel a loosening around time and space these days. A greater willingness to lean into what invigorates me, and to lean back from what no longer feels as fulfilling or rewarding. It makes me want to pay closer attention.

Asking questions like….what draws me in? What makes me curious? Where do I feel awake? What am I doing because I genuinely want to be there, and what am I doing because at some point I decided I should?

There is something freeing in asking those questions without immediately demanding an answer. A softer state of mind, perhaps.

Not doing less necessarily. Not becoming quieter or less ambitious. Just learning when to lean in and when to lean back.

Perhaps that is one of the gifts of getting older: becoming a little more attentive to where your energy wants to go.
