Framing the Unspoken: Photography with Kate Preftakes - FULLY BOOKED

$325.00
sold out

A Day of Photography, Storytelling, and Grace Notes at Tahilla Farm

Where stillness speaks—and stories unfold in light.

Join fine-art photographer Kate Preftakes and, me—Jeanne Henriques, for a quiet, creative day at Tahilla Farm— a place where photography, light, memory, and story gently intertwine.

Kate captured the poetry of people and place last summer at a family wedding here—the memory of that day still lingers. I’m delighted to welcome her back and to share her thoughtful, soulful approach with you.

This gathering isn’t about technical perfection—It’s about noticing what moves you and letting your creativity lead the way. If you’re drawn to still life, natural light, hidden corners, and the art of quiet observation, this day is for you.

Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: Tahilla Farm, Peterborough, New Hampshire (Address provided after registration)

What Awaits You

We’ll move gently through early summer gardens, serene meadows, and quiet interior corners—observing with intention and photographing with feeling.

Kate will share her insightful approach to photography and storytelling, offering tips on capturing softness, emotion, and natural light. I’ll guide you in crafting simple still-life compositions using books, flowers, and found objects.

We gather mid-day for a nourishing lunch prepared by Chef Carolyn Hough of Cranberry Meadow Farm with flowers gracing the table as a celebration of the connection between field and plate.

This is a rare opportunity to step lightly through life for a day—to notice more, feel more, and frame the moments that go unseen.

We’d love to share this experience with you.

If your heart is drawn to stillness, story, and the radiant beauty of light, we hope you’ll join us.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not at all! This day is for anyone drawn to quiet observation and storytelling through images—whether you’re using a phone, a camera, of simply a thoughtful eye. Beginners and seasoned photographers are equally welcome.

  • Yes, but gently so. Kate will share approachable tips for working with light, emotion, and stillness in your photography. Jeanne will also share her personal approach to creating images with ease, often using just her phone.

  • Bring whatever you’re comfortable using: a phone, your favorite camera—or simply your curiosity. A notebook or journal is always lovely companion too.

  • Both. Weather permitting, we’ll spend time in the gardens, meadows, and along the Poetry Trail. We’ll also photograph indoors—in the book nook, the garden shed, and quiet corners of the house. If the weather shifts, we’ll embrace the cozy, creative spaces inside.

  • We carry on—with umbrellas and open hearts. The interiors at Tahilla Farm are just as inspiring as the landscape, and we’ll adapt the day’s flow accordingly.

  • Comfortable layers and walking shoes are best. We’ll be moving between indoors and out. Bring a jacket and a sun hat, just in case. Bug spray and sunscreen will be available if needed.

    • A full-day guided experience with Kate and Jeanne

    • A seasonal, locally prepared lunch by Carolyn Hough of Cranberry Meadow Farm

    • Time for wandering, photographing, and conversation

    • A creative keepsake to take home

  • Due to the small size and nature of the gathering, tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you’re welcome to transfer your spot to a friend—just let us know in advance.

  • Tahilla Farm is located in Peterborough, New Hampshire. The exact address and directions will be shared with confirmed guests before the event.

  • The closest major airport is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), just about an hour away by car. Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is also an option—approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Peterborough. If you're flying in, a rental car is the most flexible way to explore the area. Taxis and car services are also available but can be limited in rural areas.

  • Yes. Peterborough and the surrounding towns offer several charming inns, boutique hotels, and Airbnbs. A few local favorites include:

    • Cranberry Meadow Farm, Peterborough (also our lunch partner!)

    • The Inn at Hancock Inn, Hancock

    • Riverhouse by Weekender, Peterborough

Let me know if you’d like help choosing a spot—I’d be happy to share suggestions.
